This self-paced introductory course aims to equip private-sector stakeholders with a clear and comprehensive understanding of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, with a particular focus on building the capacity to access and mobilize carbon finance through carbon markets. This initiative is promoted and supported by GIZ Article 6 Capacity Building Project.
Key concepts covered include:
- Foundations on carbon finance and Article 6
- How to mobilizing private capital through Article 6 cooperation
- How to design bankable carbon market projects aligned with Article 6
- Understand pricing models, policy risks, and buyer expectations in evolving carbon markets
Throughout the course, participants can track their progress by completing short tests. Upon successfully finishing the entire course and passing the final quiz, they will receive a digital course certificate.

Article 6 Explained: A Practical Learning Journey". Although Article 6 Explained is designed for government officials, we strongly encourage private-sector participants to review it first to familiarize themselves with the core concepts and strategies countries are adopting to enable Article 6 participation. It is an excellent way to build a strong foundation before diving into this course.
