Background 

International aviation emissions continue to grow, posing challenges to global climate mitigation efforts. To address this, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) introduced CORSIA as a global market-based mechanism aimed at stabilizing net CO₂ emissions from international flights. 

CORSIA introduces new compliance obligations for airlines, while also creating demand for high-quality carbon credits and emissions reduction projects. Understanding the scheme’s design, scope, and implementation is critical for aviation stakeholders, governments, and market participants. 

This workshop will provide a regulatory overview of CORSIA, highlighting both compliance requirements and strategic opportunities. Participants will gain insights into how aviation actors can align regulatory compliance with broader sustainability and business objectives.
