Objectives
- To broaden understanding of sustainability metrics beyond carbon emissions.
- To introduce key social, environmental, and economic indicators aligned with the SDGs.
- To discuss how non-carbon metrics support leadership decision-making and risk management.
- To explore how organizations can integrate broader sustainability metrics into strategy and reporting.
Background
While carbon metrics remain central to climate action, sustainability performance increasingly requires a more holistic measurement approach. Organizations are now expected to track social impacts, biodiversity, resilience, and inclusive growth alongside emissions reductions.
Global frameworks such as the SDGs, ESG standards, and emerging disclosure requirements emphasize the importance of multi-dimensional sustainability metrics. However, many organizations continue to face challenges in translating these frameworks into practical indicators that inform strategic decisions.
This workshop provides a high-level yet practical overview of sustainability metrics beyond carbon, with a focus on how leaders can use these metrics to guide strategy, manage risks, and strengthen long-term value creation.
