Background

Leadership and culture change are fundamentally behavioral challenges. Sustainability transformation requires leaders to set direction, influence mindsets, and role-model behaviors that signal what truly matters within an organization. Without visible leadership ownership, sustainability initiatives often remain technical, fragmented, or symbolic.

In many organizations, sustainability ambitions fail not because of a lack of strategy, but due to inconsistent leadership commitment and limited cultural alignment. Leaders play a decisive role in shaping narratives, decision-making norms, and informal incentives that influence how sustainability is understood and acted upon across the organization.
