Objectives
- Explain key concepts and pathways for green port development and sustainable logistics.
- Provide an overview of carbon project approaches relevant to port operations and logistics systems.
- Highlight technical, regulatory, and implementation considerations for low-emission transport infrastructure.
Background
Ports and logistics systems are critical enablers of urban and national economic growth, but they are also significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and energy demand. As trade volumes increase, the transition toward green ports and sustainable logistics has become a priority to reduce emissions, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen climate resilience across transport and supply chains.
In Indonesia, efforts to decarbonize port operations and logistics networks are increasingly linked to low-emission technologies, cleaner fuels, energy efficiency measures, and carbon market mechanisms. However, translating these strategies into bankable projects requires clarity on technical pathways, regulatory frameworks, and credible measurement of emissions reductions.
This workshop will examine practical approaches to developing green ports and sustainable logistics systems, focusing on low-emission infrastructure, operational decarbonization, and the role of carbon projects in supporting implementation.
