Objectives
- Explain sources of carbon pricing exposure across manufacturing value chains.
- Provide an overview of decarbonization options across energy use, production processes, and supply chains.
- Highlight regulatory, data, and implementation considerations for manufacturing companies.
Background
Manufacturing is a cornerstone of Indonesia’s economy, encompassing energy-intensive subsectors such as cement, steel, chemicals, pulp and paper, food and beverages, and electronics. These industries face rising carbon pricing exposure from direct fuel combustion and process emissions, as well as indirect emissions embedded in electricity, raw materials, and logistics across domestic and international supply chains.
As Indonesia advances its carbon pricing framework and integrates with global climate policies, manufacturing companies are increasingly exposed to carbon costs, compliance obligations, and market access risks. Many manufacturers, however, lack clear visibility across their value chains and struggle to translate policy signals into practical decarbonization investments.
This workshop will examine how Indonesian manufacturers can manage carbon pricing exposure by identifying key emissions drivers, strengthening supply chain data, and developing phased decarbonization roadmaps aligned with technology readiness and regulatory requirements.
