Background
Indonesia’s commitment to achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060 or sooner requires a fundamental transformation of its energy system. Electrification and the accelerated deployment of renewable energy are key pillars in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy security, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The electrification of end-use sectors such as transportation, industry, and buildings, combined with the integration of renewable energy sources into the national energy mix, presents both significant opportunities and technical challenges. These include grid readiness, regulatory frameworks, technology selection, financing mechanisms, and cross-sector coordination.
In this context, a Technical Workshop on Electrification & Renewable Energy Transition is organized to provide practical insights from policymakers and practitioners, particularly from the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (Direktorat Jenderal EBTKE), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR).
