Objectives
- To explore how human capital systems enable sustainability transformation.
- To examine the role of organizational culture in embedding green business practices.
- To discuss integration of sustainability into talent management, performance systems, and incentives.
- To highlight how HR functions can institutionalize sustainability across organizations.
Background
Sustainability transformation becomes durable only when it is embedded into organizational systems. Human capital policies—such as recruitment, training, performance management, incentives, and capability development—determine whether sustainability commitments translate into consistent behaviors and decisions across the organization.
While leadership sets direction, organizational systems ensure continuity and scale. Without alignment between sustainability goals and human capital mechanisms, organizations often struggle to move beyond pilot initiatives or individual champions. Embedding sustainability into HR and organizational processes is therefore critical to making green business practices part of everyday operations.
This workshop focuses on the systems and institutional dimension of sustainability transformation. It examines how human capital strategies and organizational culture can be deliberately designed to support green business objectives. The session emphasizes structural and policy mechanisms rather than individual leadership styles and is part of the Leadership & Outlook 2027 series.
