Objectives
- Explain how regenerative agriculture practices can generate carbon outcomes.
- Provide an overview of carbon market pathways and crediting approaches relevant to agriculture.
- Highlight technical, regulatory, and implementation considerations for monetizing agricultural carbon.
Background
Regenerative agriculture is gaining attention as a pathway to improve soil health, enhance productivity, and reduce emissions while generating measurable carbon outcomes. Practices such as improved soil management, reduced tillage, optimized fertilizer use, and integrated land management can contribute to carbon sequestration and emissions reduction across agricultural value chains.
In Indonesia, interest in linking regenerative agriculture to carbon trading is increasing as carbon market mechanisms evolve and demand grows for nature-based and agriculture-linked carbon credits. However, monetizing regenerative practices through carbon markets requires credible measurement, reporting, and verification systems, clear benefit-sharing arrangements, and alignment with regulatory and market standards.
This workshop will examine how regenerative agriculture initiatives can be structured and monetized through carbon trading and carbon market mechanisms, with a focus on practical opportunities and implementation challenges.
