Background

Nature-based Solutions have emerged as a key approach to addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem degradation simultaneously. By working with natural systems, NbS offer pathways to reduce emissions, enhance carbon sinks, restore biodiversity, and strengthen community resilience.

Despite growing interest, the implementation of NbS faces challenges related to governance, financing, monitoring, and alignment with climate and biodiversity frameworks. Ensuring that NbS initiatives deliver real, measurable, and lasting outcomes requires sound scientific foundations and strong institutional collaboration.

This workshop will provide an overview of NbS concepts and applications, highlighting how NbS can be integrated into climate and biodiversity strategies. Through insights from research and practice, participants will gain a better understanding of the opportunities and limitations of NbS as a scalable sustainability solution.
