DESCRIPTION:Objectives\nThe workshop will delve into the key criteria that Verification Bodies (VVBs) consider essential for a high-quality Project Design Document (PDD)\, particularly in the forestry sectors. \nBackground\nIndonesia has been at the forefront of global efforts to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation\, commonly referred to as REDD+. Since submitting its first Forest Reference Emission Level (FREL) in 2016\, the country has made significant strides in combating deforestation and forest degradation. Key milestones include the submission of its first REDD+ results in 2018 and the development of a National Strategy and Safeguard Information Summary in 2019\, which led to results-based payments for reducing approximately 20 million tons of CO2 emissions. \nAt the heart of any forest carbon project lies the Project Design Document (PDD)\, a critical blueprint that details the project’s objectives\, methodologies\, and anticipated outcomes. The quality of a PDD is vital\, as it serves as the foundation for validation and verification by bodies (VVBs).
