SUMMARY:From CSR to longer term Carbon Projects: Opportunities and benefits
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\nThis workshop will showcase Carbon Ethics’ expertise\, emphasizing the key differences between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs and carbon projects. It will explore their unique goals\, approaches and impacts\, highlighting the opportunities and benefits of transitioning from CSR initiatives to long-term carbon projects. \nBackground\nIndonesia holds for 70% of the world’s carbon credits from forests\, mangroves\, peatlands\, and seagrasses. This includes 3.31 million hectares of mangroves\, 7.5 million hectares of peatlands\, and 125.9 million hectares of tropical rainforests. To take this leadership position even further\, delivering premium or high-quality blue carbon is a critical consideration. Activities to recover and rehabilitate the coastal ecosystem through mangrove\, seagrass\, and peatland planting\, while simultaneously providing community benefits are the key element to these projects. \nAt the same time\, similar but distinct activities have been carried out under CSR programs in Indonesia. Mangrove rehabilitation\, for instance\, is a popular initiative. These CSR commitments are mandatory for state-owned enterprises and certain corporations under Law No. 40/2007 and Corporate Law Article 74\, which require companies to address social and environmental issues within their operational areas. Common CSR activities include environmental sustainability efforts\, community development\, education\, improving basic living standards\, and ensuring health and safety. \nThis workshop will explore these approaches and look at the opportunities and benefits for public and private entities to back longer-term carbon projects to maximize their impact. \nGuest Speaker\nAmadea Cintantya\, Business Manager\, CarbonEthics \nAgenda\n09.00 – 09.30 Registration and coffee\n09.30 – 09.35 Welcoming remarks\, Sarfina Adani\, Neyen\n09.35 – 09.50 Blue Carbon Introduction\, Sarfina Adani\, Neyen \nWORKSHOP\n09.50 – 10.35 From CSR to longer term Carbon Projects: Opportunities and benefits\, Amadea Cintantya\, CarbonEthics\n10.35 – 11.05 Q&A\n11.05 – 11.20 Closing and photo session\n11.20 – 12.00 Networking session \nWhen and where?\n13th February\, 09:00 – 12:00 WIB \nWeWork Revenue Tower – 25th Floor\, Meeting Room 25A \nPlease note\, this is an in-person only event. \nWho should attend?\nThis workshop is designed for the private sector\, government officials\, NGOs\, research institutions/universities and intergovernmental organizations that are committed to advancing sustainability initiatives.
