SUMMARY:The importance of community involvement in carbon markets
DESCRIPTION:Objectives \nThe objective of this inFUSE Accelerator workshop is to explore how communities can participate in carbon markets and provide examples with concrete actions and recommendations.  \nBackground \nThe carbon market has been garnering a lot of interest in Indonesia. That there are 3\,878 pending applications for registration in the national carbon registry (SRN) is a testament to this. With significant interest from many stakeholders\, it is important to ensure that activities developed bring tangible benefits to local communities\, particularly those directly impacted by carbon projects.  \nFocusing on the local community not only benefits the surrounding area\, but also creates higher value for the proposed carbon project. This workshop will discuss what kind of activities can bring value to the market and how they can benefit local communities.  \nWhen and where?\n20th August\, We-work Noble House Kuningan. 9:30 – 12:00 WIB \nPlease note\, this is an in-person only event and will be conducted in English. \nSpeakers\n\nYani Witjaksono\, Yayasan Bina Usaha Lingkungan\nJeremy Buhain\, Neyen Consulting\nSarfina Adani\, Neyen Consulting\n\nAgenda\n09.30 – 10.00 – Registration \n10.00 – 10.05 – Welcoming remarks\, Sarfina Adani \n10.05 – 10.35 – Benefit sharing: concept\, assessment\, and examples in other countries\, Jeremy Buhain \n10.35 – 10.50 – Interactive Session\, lead by Jeremy Buhain \n10.50 – 11.20 – The importance of community their involvement to the carbon market\, Yani Witjaksono \n11.20 – 11.50 – Q&A\, lead by Sarfina Adani \n11.50 – 11.55 – Photo Session \nWho should attend?\nThis workshop is intended for private sector Project Developers based in Indonesia and may also be relevant for government officials\, NGOs\, and CSOs who are interested in participating in the carbon market or represent local communities with an interest in the Indonesian Carbon Market. \nRegistration closed\nRegistration for this event is now closed as we at full capacity. \nWatch the full event recording here: \nhttps://vimeo.com/1001964948 \nRegister for inFUSE Accelerator to find out about future events\nSign-up today to join our inFUSE Accelerator mailing list to be notified about future events and activities. SUMMARY:Unlocking the Market Potential of Indonesian Blue Carbon
DESCRIPTION:Register today for the third workshop in the inFUSE Accelerator carbon market series “Unlocking the Market Potential of Indonesian Blue Carbon” on 28th August. \nBackground\nGiven the critical importance of mangroves for livelihoods\, resilience\, and climate mitigation\, the Indonesian government launched the National Mangrove Rehabilitation Program in 2020. This presidential priority aims to rehabilitate 600\,000 hectares of degraded mangroves by 2024. Mangroves\, seagrasses\, and other coastal ecosystems\, collectively known as “blue carbon” ecosystems\, play a vital role in carbon sequestration\, storing up to four times more carbon per hectare than terrestrial forests. \nIndonesia\, home to some of the world’s most extensive mangrove forests\, recognizes the immense potential of blue carbon not only in combating climate change but also as a market asset. With global interest in carbon markets growing\, the country’s rehabilitation efforts could unlock new opportunities for sustainable development. By restoring mangrove ecosystems\, Indonesia could tap into emerging carbon markets\, attract investment\, and enhance the livelihoods of coastal communities. \nObjectives\nThis workshop aims to explore the opportunities and market potential of Indonesian blue carbon\, while also deepening the understanding of the associated challenges and risks. \nWhen and where?\n28th August\, 9:30 – 12:30 WIB \nWe-work Noble House Kuningan.
