SUMMARY:The power of coordination and collaborative partnerships for achieving Blue Carbon success
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\nThis workshop aims to address both regional and national initiative perspectives and seeks to foster a cohesive approach to sustainable marine and coastal management in Indonesia. \nBackground\nBlue carbon has received a lot of attention on this front in recent years. High-quality blue carbon projects are being recognized for their stackable benefits\, offering social and environmental investment in the form of nature-positive\, sustainable fisheries and infrastructure that all lead to blue carbon ecosystem conservation and restoration. However\, one of the successes of blue carbon initiatives relies on coordination and collaborative partnerships. Especially with the alignment of the national and regional plan.   \nAt the sub-national level\, provinces like West Java play a critical role in shaping and implementing blue economy strategies that align with both national policies and local needs. West Java\, with its rich marine biodiversity and extensive coastline\, serves as a prime example of how a tailored blue economy framework can support sustainable development. Simultaneously\, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment has signed a Letter of Intent with the World Economic Forum on the establishment of the National Blue Carbon Action Partnership ( NBCAP ) to support the Indonesian government’s ambition to restore and preserve blue carbon ecosystems in Indonesia.  \nWhen and where?\n4th September 9:00 – 12:00 WIB (please note that we will start and finish 30 mins earlier than previous events) \nWe-work Noble House Kuningan. SUMMARY:Forest Carbon Projects: Unlocking opportunities and overcoming challenges
DESCRIPTION:Objective\nThis workshop aims to share and explore the challenges in ensuring high quality forest carbon projects from the project developers’ perspective \nBackground\nIndonesia is the world’s fifth largest emitter of greenhouse gases\, mainly due to the conversion of its forests and carbon-rich peatlands. These shifts in land use have ecological and social consequences\, as Indonesia’s forests are home to thousands of plant and animal species\, and 50-60 million Indonesians depend directly on the forests for their livelihoods. \nGiven the crucial role that forests play in carbon sequestration\, forest carbon projects have emerged as a key strategy in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However\, ensuring the effectiveness and high quality of these projects is fraught with challenges. Issues such as accurate carbon measurement\, long-term sustainability\, community engagement\, and preventing unintended consequences like carbon leakage are critical to their success. \nWhen and where?\n9th September\, 09:00 – 12:00 WIB \nWe-work Noble House Kuningan. Meeting room 29D\, access via Floor 30. \nPlease note\, this is an in-person only event and will be conducted in English. \nSpeakers\nHandoko Limaho\, CEO\, Hutan Kencana Group \nSarfina Adani\, Neyen Consulting \nAgenda\n09.00 – 09.30 – Registration\, coffee\, Meet & Greet \n09.30 – 09.35 – inFUSE Accelerator: Welcoming remarks\, Sarfina Adani \n09:35 – 09.50 – Setting the scene: Introduction to Forest Carbon: Benefits & opportunities by Sarfina Adani \n09.50 – 10.30 – Challenges that Project Developers are facing in ensuring high quality forest carbon projects: Risk\, Rewards\, and Continuance by Handoko Limaho \n10.30 – 10.50  – Q&A \n10.50 – 11.00 – Closing remarks and photo session\, Sarfina Adani \n11.00 – 12.00 Networking session \nWho should attend?\nThis workshop is intended for private sector Project Developers based in Indonesia\, government officials\, NGOs\, and CSOs who are interested in participating in the carbon market or represent local communities with an interest in the Indonesian Carbon Market. \nRegister today

SUMMARY:Understanding Quality Project Design Documents (PDDs) in Indonesia's FOLU Sector: A VVB Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\nThe workshop will delve into the key criteria that Verification Bodies (VVBs) consider essential for a high-quality Project Design Document (PDD)\, particularly in the forestry sectors. \nBackground\nIndonesia has been at the forefront of global efforts to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation\, commonly referred to as REDD+. Since submitting its first Forest Reference Emission Level (FREL) in 2016\, the country has made significant strides in combating deforestation and forest degradation. Key milestones include the submission of its first REDD+ results in 2018 and the development of a National Strategy and Safeguard Information Summary in 2019\, which led to results-based payments for reducing approximately 20 million tons of CO2 emissions. \nAt the heart of any forest carbon project lies the Project Design Document (PDD)\, a critical blueprint that details the project’s objectives\, methodologies\, and anticipated outcomes. The quality of a PDD is vital\, as it serves as the foundation for validation and verification by bodies (VVBs). A meticulously prepared PDD not only ensures compliance with established standards but also bolsters the project’s credibility and appeal to investors and stakeholders. \nWhen and where?\n18th September\, 09:00 – 12:00 WIB \nWe-work Noble House Kuningan. Meeting room 29D\, access via Floor 30. \nPlease note\, this is an in-person only event and will be conducted in English. \nWho should attend?\nThis workshop is intended for private sector Project Developers based in Indonesia\, government officials\, NGOs\, and CSOs who are interested in participating in the carbon market or represent local communities with an interest in the Indonesian Carbon Market. \nRegister today\nAs space is limited\, please register your interest today and we will get back to you on shortly to confirm.

SUMMARY:Ensuring the future integrity of the Indonesian carbon market
DESCRIPTION:This special edition of our regular inFUSE Accelerator workshops will be held in collaboration with Indonesia Carbon Trade Association (IDCTA) and Dana Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (DIPI). \nObjectives\nDiscuss\, share strategies and propose solutions for strengthening the integrity of Indonesia’s carbon market. Our aim is ensuring this nascent market remains a trustworthy and impactful tool for climate mitigation and sustainable development. \nBackground\nIndonesia\, home to vast natural resources and tropical forests\, has immense potential in contributing to global carbon reduction through the carbon market. The carbon trading mechanism\, if managed with transparency and integrity\, can provide economic incentives for protecting the environment\, supporting sustainable land use\, and enabling Indonesia achieves its ambitious climate goals. \nHowever\, ensuring the integrity of the carbon market poses challenges. Issues such as transparency\, robust monitoring\, verification processes\, and ensuring accountability are vital in maintaining trust and ensuring long-term success.
