SUMMARY:Getting Started with Measurement\, Reporting\, and Verification (MRV): From Basics to Implementation
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\nLed by an expert from the World Resources Institute (WRI)\, this session will provide a comprehensive introduction to MRV\, its role in emissions reduction initiatives\, and its alignment with global standards. The discussion will cover key challenges in Indonesia’s MRV implementation\, such as the manual registration system\, the absence of an integrated inventory and reporting mechanism\, and the need for third-party verification to enable participation in the Emissions Trading System (ETS). \nBackground\nAs Indonesia advances its climate commitments and carbon market development\, the role of a robust Measurement\, Reporting\, and Verification (MRV) system becomes increasingly critical. MRV serves as the foundation for ensuring transparency\, credibility\, and compliance in emissions reduction initiatives. It enables project developers to quantify their impact\, facilitates participation in carbon markets\, and aligns Indonesia’s climate policies with global standards. \nCurrently\, Indonesia’s MRV framework faces several challenges\, including manual registration processes\, the absence of an integrated inventory and reporting system\, and limited verification mechanisms. While the national registry system is evolving\, developers and stakeholders still encounter difficulties in navigating verification requirements\, particularly for entry into the Emissions Trading System (ETS) and third-party validation processes. \nAdditionally\, Indonesia’s MRV system has primarily been applied to government-led initiatives\, such as the ProKlim program\, rather than being widely accessible to private sector developers and NGOs. Addressing these gaps is essential for streamlining MRV implementation and fostering greater participation in emissions reduction efforts. \nThis workshop will introduce Indonesia’s MRV system\, explore its current architecture\, key challenges\, and opportunities for improvement\, and discuss how project developers can effectively engage in the system to meet national and global standards. Through this discussion\, participants will gain a clearer understanding of MRV requirements\, verification processes\, and the role of a well-structured registry in supporting Indonesia’s low-carbon transition. \nSpeakers\nAlvianni Nur Mahmudah\, Consultant\, Neyen \nGuest speaker: Wira A. SUMMARY:Driving the Shift: CNG Conversion for Low-Carbon\, Sustainable Transport
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\nThis workshop session seeks to bring together stakeholders—government\, industry\, community groups\, and consumers—to explore the opportunities\, challenges\, and strategies for scaling up CNG vehicle conversion as a just\, practical\, and sustainable energy transition pathway. \nBackground\nThe rising cost of fuel (BBM) and the climate commitment in Indonesia has sparked growing interest in alternative energy sources for transportation. While electric vehicles (EVs) have gained attention for their low emissions\, they remain costly to purchase and subsidized through tax incentives like VAT reduction. In contrast\, vehicle conversion to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)\, a type of BBG (gas fuel) is not a new technology—it has been available as an alternative for existing vehicles since before electric vehicles launched in the market \, yet it remains underutilized among the public due to limited awareness\, lack of certified workshops\, and concerns about maintenance and spare parts. \nEnvironmental tests show that CNG vehicles produce significantly lower CO₂ emissions and only trace levels of methane compared to conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Additionally\, CNG cylinders can last up to 20 years\, offering a long and reliable service life. \nA growing community of over 400 CNG vehicle users is actively promoting awareness and establishing official service centers and standardized spare parts. However\, broader adoption still faces challenges in public education\, after-sales service\, and policy support. \nSpeakers\nAlvianni Nur Mahmudah\, Consultant\, Neyen \nGuest speakers: \nAndy Lala\, Leader\, Komunitas Mobil Gas (KOMOGAS) \nAdi Manalu\, PGN \nAgenda\n09.00 – 09.30 Registration and coffee\n09.30 – 09.35 Welcoming remarks\, Neyen\n09.35 – 09.45 Introduction to CNG Conversion \nWorkshop\n09.45 – 10.25 Driving the Shift: CNG Conversion for Low-Carbon\, Sustainable Transport\, Andy Lala\, Komunitas Mobil Gas and Adi Manalu from PGN\n10.25 – 11.05 Q&A\n11.05 – 11.20 Closing and photo session\n11.20 – 12.00 Networking session \nWhen and where?\n17th April\, 09:00 – 12:00 WIB \nWework Noble House – 29th Floor\, Meeting Room 29D \nPlease note\, this is an in-person only event with limited capacity. SUMMARY:Powering the Future: The Role of Green Hydrogen for Climate Action and Economic Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\nBy bringing together experts\, policymakers\, and practitioners\, this workshop aims to spark collaborative action and scale up the role of green hydrogen as a clean\, reliable\, and locally adaptable energy solution for Indonesia’s future. \nBackground\nAs Indonesia works toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2060\, green hydrogen is gaining attention as a strategic clean energy solution. Unlike conventional hydrogen\, which is derived from fossil fuels and emits carbon in the production process\, green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy sources\, resulting in near or zero emissions. This makes it a vital component in Indonesia’s sustainable energy transition. \nThis workshop\, led by a green hydrogen-focused organization\, aims to promote the adoption of green hydrogen with near-zero emissions in production\, supporting Indonesia’s climate goals. A central theme of the discussion will be the implementation of good practices and core principles in green hydrogen production—ensuring it is not only clean but also safe\, efficient\, and scalable. \nParticipants will also explore the differences between various hydrogen sources—green\, blue\, and grey hydrogen—highlighting the environmental and economic implications of each pathway. Understanding these differences is essential for informed decision-making and policy development in the energy sector. \nThe workshop will further focus on identifying feasible applications of green hydrogen in Indonesia\, tailored to local contexts. Potential uses include powering remote communities\, fueling industrial processes\, and providing clean alternatives in transportation. These examples will help demonstrate how green hydrogen can be realistically integrated into existing systems. \nSpeakers\nRifan Bachtiar\, GH2 Country Manager \nAlvianni Nur Mahmudah\, Neyen Consulting \nAgenda\n09.00 – 09.30 Registration and coffee\n09.30 – 09.35 Welcoming remarks\, Neyen\n09.35 – 09.45 Introduction to Green Hydrogen\, Neyen \nWorkshop\n09.45 – 10.25 Powering the Future: the Role of Green Hydrogen for Climate Action and Economic Resilience\, Rifan Bachtiar\, GH2\n10.25 – 11.05 Q&A\n11.05 – 11.20 Closing and photo session\n11.20 – 12.00 Networking session \nWhen and where?\n24th April\, 09:00 – 12:00 WIB \nWeWork Noble House – 29th Floor\, Meeting Room 29D (Access via 30th Floor) \nWho should attend?\nThis workshop is designed for the private sector\, government officials\, NGOs\, research institutions/universities and intergovernmental organizations that are committed to advancing sustainability initiatives.
